The Election Commission (EC) on Tuesday announced the dates for Assembly elections in Maharashtra and Jharkhand.
Polling in Maharashtra will be held in a single phase on November 20, 2024. Jharkhand will have two phase elections – November 13 and 20.
The votes for the two states will be counted on November 23.
The term of the 288-seat Maharashtra Assembly will end on November 26, 2024. The poll process has to be completed before that.
The term of the81-seat Jharkhand Assembly will end on January 5, 2025.
“There are 9.63 crore eligible voters in Maharashtra while the number of eligible voters in Jharkand is 2.6 crore,” Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar said at a press conference here.
Bye-elections to 47 assembly seats and the Wayanad Lok Sabha seat will be held on November 13.
