Gurugram: In a bid to penalise the traffic violators impeding the passage of emergency service vehicles such as Fire Brigades and Ambulance, Gurugram Police have prepared to crack down taking swift action to penalise the violators with a hefty fine of Rs ten thousand in Millennium City.
Traffic police in its awareness have asked to general public to give way to emergency service vehicles or be ready to face a fine of Rs 10 thousand.
According to Virender VIJ, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Traffic, The traffic police have already been directed to make videos of offenders found violating the orders or seen blocking the routes of Emergency Vehicles. An online challan will be issued against the offenders with video recording to impose a fine of Rs 10 thousand.
“The driver faces up to six months’ imprisonment. Often, emergency vehicles are delayed due to traffic or obstruction. A small initiative can save a patient’s life in an ambulance if motorists help it to drive to the hospital without hassle” he added.
The Gurugram Traffic Police is already providing green corridors for Ambulances carrying organs meant for transplant to different hospitals and helping to save the lives of serious patients,” the officer said.
These challans will be issued against the offenders as per section 194E Act 1988.
