Lucknow: Amidst accusations and controversy surrounding allegations of paper leaks with the involvements of officers of state government departments, The Chief Minister, Yogi Adityanath said on Saturday that the Uttar Pradesh government has decided to cancel the ongoing police constable recruitment exam held on February 17-18 and planned to re-conduct the exam again within six months.
The CM has also promised to take strict action against those found involved in cheating and paper leaks. He mentioned that the authorities are closely monitoring the situation, and several arrests have already been made. He also assured and declared that all applicants would receive fresh admit cards for the re-conducted examination.
A case has been filed in Lucknow regarding the leaked paper. Satya Aman Kumar, a participant in the exam, and Neeraj, who allegedly provided the leaked paper, are both named in the case.
The exam aimed to fill 60,244 police constable positions and saw the participation of 50 lakh candidates across 75 districts of Uttar Pradesh. According to Inspector Ram Babu Singh’s complaint, Kumar attempted to cheat with the help of Neeraj, who provided him with solved questions.
The case includes charges under Section 420 of the Indian Penal Code, the Information Technology Act, and the Uttar Pradesh Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act. Both accused individuals are currently in judicial custody, and investigations are ongoing, as confirmed by a senior police officer.
“I want to assure the youths they don’t have to worry about the recruitment exam, no more recruitment paper leaks incidents to happen in Uttar Pradesh in future. Only the right skilled candidates will be selected according to fair assessment and transparency,” confirming the fresh development, Brijesh Pathak, Deputy Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh said,
The Special Task Force (STF) is investigating the matter to curb the nexus. More arrests are to be made soon, he added.
Opposition leaders such as Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and the Former CM of Uttar Pradesh, Akhilesh Yadav were also seen attacking on Uttar Pradesh government, questioning How it is possible that every time the majority of recruitment papers got leaked in Uttar Pradesh under the nose of agencies.
