NEW DELHI: A 29-year-old gym owner was allegedly killed by his father with a sharp-edged weapon just hours before his wedding at his house in South Delhi’s Devli Extension area, Police said on Friday.
The deceased, Gaurav Singhal,29, was stabbed by his father at least 15 times on his face and chest during an altercation hours before his wedding procession was to leave for his would-be bride’s residence.
“The incident occurred on Thursday around 12.30 am. A police team reached the spot in Raju Park and found that Gaurav Singhal was attacked with a sharp-edged weapon. He was taken to Max Hospital for treatment by his family members but was later declared as brought dead,” Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), South, Ankit Chauhan said.
Police team arrested the accused father involved in the stabbing from Jaipur. The accused had gone incommunicado after the crime.
“During the probe, it was found that the father and son shared a strained relationship,” The DCP added.
The initial investigation suggested that Gaurav did not want to get married but was being pressured by his father which led to regular altercations between them.
He wanted to marry another woman who he loved. The investigators are however probing the case with other angles too. Gaurav used to run a gym.
