A total of 1,031 candidates are in the fray. An estimated 2,03,54,350 voters will cast their mandate across 20,632 polling booths. According to Chief Electoral Officer of Haryana, Pankaj Agarwal, 2,03,54,350 voters, including 1,07,75,957 males, 95,77,926 females, and 467 third-gender voters, are eligible to cast their votes today. The DGP Haryana informed that in addition to these, 11,000 Special Police Officers (SPOs) have been also stationed across all the sensitive booths.
The main fight is between the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) and Congress. Also, in the fray are Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), National Lok Dal Bahujan Samaj Party (INLD-BSP) and Jannayak Janata Party (JJP)-Azad Samaj Party (ASP). The big question that everyone seems to be asking is will the BJP would be able to retain the state. Congress has been claiming that it would sweep the polls ever since the polling dates were announced. However, the campaigning remained very slow in the state in the initial phase. Both Congress and the Saffron took time to gear up their poll strategies.
The counting of votes will commence on October 8, 2024.
