Nigerian President confers national award on PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi was conferred with the second-highest national award – the Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger on Sunday by Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Prime Minister Modi is the first Indian prime minister to visit Nigeria in last 17 years.

PM Modi who is on an official visit to Nigeria held wide-ranging talks with Nigerian President Tinubu with a focus on shoring up bilateral cooperation in sectors such as defence, trade and energy. India is looking at strategic partnership with Nigeria.

Both the two leaders reaffirmed their commitment to jointly fight terrorism, piracy and radicalisation and work towards meeting the aspirations of the Global South.
