AAP announces Delhi and Haryana candidates, fields Former Congress leader Mahabal Mishra

New Delhi: After the internal Party-Political Affairs Committee (PAC) meeting, Aam Aadmi Party on Tuesday announced the names of its candidates for the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections for Delhi and Haryana.

The announcement of candidates came two days after the AAP and Congress finalised the seat-sharing pact.

“After the meeting of our core political Affairs Committee meeting, the party senior leadership decided to give tickets and nominated Somnath Bharti, Kuldeep Kumar, Sahi Ram Pahalwan and Mahabal Mishra for the Constituencies of New Delhi, East Delhi, South Delhi and West Delhi respectively,” AAP Delhi Convenor Gopal Rai said.

The party also nominated its Rajya Sabha member, Sushil Kumar Gupta from Haryana’s Kurukshetra.

From Delhi:

Somnath Bharti for New Delhi

Kuldeep Kumar for East Delhi
Sahi Ram for South Delhi
Mahabal Mishra for West Delhi

From Haryana:

Sushil Gupta for Kurukshetra

As per the details of the nominated candidates of AAP and their toughest challengers from Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP), Kuldeep Kumar, MLA from Kondli will contest from East Delhi. The parliamentary constituency is currently represented by cricket megastar and BJP’s Gautam Gambhir.

The AAP’s MLA from Malviya Nagar will contest from the New Delhi constituency where the BJP’s Meenakshi Lekhi is currently representing.

The Former member of Parliament from West Delhi, Mahabal Mishra, has been nominated by AAP this time. The 70-year-old leader had left The Congress party years ago. He previously unsuccessfully contested the 2014-2019 Lok Sabha elections against BJP’s Parvesh Verma.

The AAP has selected Sahi Ram Pahalwan from the South Delhi seat, the constituency is currently represented by BJP’s Ramesh Bidhuri.

Along with Sushil Gupta, AAP has already nominated its three candidates for Assam and two for Gujrat.

“AAP will forge an alliance with INDIA Bloc for the Lok Sabha elections in Goa, Gujarat, Haryana, Chandigarh, and Delhi. Candidates for five seats have already been announced, with five more unveiled today.”
