The hoax call threatening bomb scare in the flights continued on Wednesday and a Canadian Air Force aircraft carrying 191 stranded passengers of an Air India flight from Iqaluit airport to Chicago was stranded. A complete security check on the aircraft confirmed it was a hoax call. The incident took place a day after a flight was diverted to the airport owing to a bomb threat. The flight was later resumed for Chicago.
Sharing a post on X, Air India wrote, “Air India is pleased to announce passengers of flight Al127, which was diverted to Iqaluit in Canada on October 15, are on their way to their destination Chicago.”
The aircraft departed from Iqaluit at 3.54 am UTC (9.30 am IST) and is expected to land in Chicago at around 7.48 am UTC (1.15 pm IST). Air India’s Boeing 777-300 ER aircraft enroute to Chicago from Delhi was diverted to Canada following a bomb threat on Tuesday. It had 211 people, including 20 crew members.
At least 10 Indian flights have received hoax bomb threats in the last 48 hours. The aviation ministry and big players in the industry have been busy trying to find a solution to the problem that has created security scare among the passengers and many have been cancelling their travel. The ministry dais, “Passenger safety and security is our foremost importance and in such a situation we cannot take any call casually. They might be hoax calls but we cannot rule them out until confirmed.”
