New Delhi: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has on Tuesday summoned Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal for the eighth time regarding a money laundering case tied to excise policy. Kejriwal’s repeated avoidance of the ongoing probe has triggered strong criticism from political circles.
Reacting to Kejriwal’s persistent absence, Virendra Sachdeva, the Delhi President of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), condemned the CM, accusing him of dodging the investigating agency.
“When the ED calls, why evade? Criminals flee investigations, and your actions mirror theirs,” Sachdeva remarked.
Comparing Kejriwal’s behavior to that of a truant student, Sachdeva urged him to address alleged corruption within the Delhi Jal Board.
“If Kejriwal truly believes in his innocence, he must confront the issue of inflated water bills stemming from falsified meter readings. His ministers oversee the Delhi Jal Board, implicating him in potential corruption,” Sachdeva asserted.
Sachdeva further demanded Kejriwal’s resignation on ethical grounds, alleging corruption within the Delhi.
Kejriwal, the national convenor of the Aam Aadmi Party, has been summoned to appear before the agency on March 4.
A city court, responding to the ED’s concerns over Kejriwal’s repeated non-compliance with summonses, has mandated his appearance on March 16.
Despite the ongoing legal proceedings, the ED remains steadfast, rejecting assertions that issuing a fresh summons to Kejriwal is unjustified.
