NEW DELHI: Keeping in view the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections, The Congress on Sunday released another list of 10 candidates including Kanhaiya Kumar who will be contesting from the Northeast Delhi seat against Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) Manoj Tiwari.
In its alliance with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in Delhi, Congress has announced candidates for the three remaining Lok Sabha seats with the names of J.P Agarwal from Chandni Chowk against BJP’s Praveen Khandelwal, a businessman.
Agarwal had previously secured victory in the 2009 Lok Sabha election representing North East Delhi but faced defeat against Manoj Tiwari in 2014 during Modi’s waves of clean swing. He later switched to Chandni Chowk in 2019 but was again unsuccessful against BJP’s Harsh Vardhan.
Congress had fielded Kanhaiya Kumar against Manoj Tiwari from Northeast Delhi where there will be a tough fight between them as both the leaders are remarkable debaters and heavyweights holding a significant population of the Purvanchalis vote bank from Bihar and eastern UP and Muslims.
From the Northwest constituency, Congress fielded Udit Raj against BJP’s Yogendra Chandolia, a former mayor of MCD.
Meanwhile, the Central Election Committee (CEC) of the Congress has also selected six candidates from Punjab including Dharmvir Gandhi from Patiala, Sukhpal Singh Khaira from Sangrur, Jeet Mohinder Singh Sindu from Bathinda, Amar Singh from Fetehpur Sahib, Chanjit Singh Channi from Jalandhar and Gurjeet Singh Aujla from Amritsar.
