Delhi Fake Cancer Drug Syndicate ‘targeted Over 200-Cancer Patients’  busted: Eight arrested by Crime Branch

Inter state Crime Branch busted a gang of fake drugs supplier.

NEW DELHI: With the arrest of seven persons including two employees of a hospital in the national capital, the Delhi Police Crime Branch busted a syndicate of fake drugs involved in the manufacturing and supplying of fake cancer drugs.

The accused persons used to fill anti-fungal medicine worth Rs 100 in empty vials and sell them, as “life-saving” cancer drugs all over the country, China and The U.S. for between Rs 1 lakh to 3 Lakh per vial.

It was found in the investigation that the gang was active for over two years and sold so far more than 7,000 injections.

Police received a tip-off that a gang was active in a hospital and pharmacy shops for supplying adulterated drugs and fake cancer injection vials.

“During the investigation, police teams raided two flats located in DLF Capital Greens, Moti Nagar and impounded fake medicines. The flat was used by Viphil Jain, the gang leader who manufactured the fake medicines there,”

Three cap-sealing machines, 1 heat gun and 197 empty vails were recovered from the flats,” Special Commissioner of Police (Crime) Shalini Singh said.

“A co-accused, Neeraj Chauhan was arrested who used to store a large stock of fake cancer injection vails. A total of 519 empty bottles and 864 packaging boxes were seized from the flat,” the officer added.

Chauhan worked as a manager in the oncology department of several hospitals joined by Jain in the year 2022.

Later the extended gang with Chauhan’s cousin, Tushar, a lab technician and his friend, Parvez, a former pharmacist at a cancer hospital and their contacts, Komal Tiwari and Abhinay Kohli, employees of a Delhi-based cancer hospital.

Komal and Abhinay Kohli used to provide empty vials from the hospital to Jain for Rs 5000 each.

Another accused, Suraj Shat, an IIT-BHU graduate, and an owner of a medical store, was arrested in Muzaffarpur. He brought fake medicines from Chauhan and further supplied them to buyers in Pune and Delhi-NCR.

Police suspect that the gang targeted over 200 cancer patients.

A case of selling fake adulterated drugs, cheating, forgery and criminal conspiracy has been registered against them.
