NEW DELHI: After a Delhi Police official was captured in footage for kicking Muslims offering namaz on the street in the Inderlok area, Delhi Police on Friday suspended the police post-in-charge with immediate effect and sent him to lines.
The footage showed that some Muslims were offering Namaz on the street when a Sub-inspector as a Police Post-In-charge started kicking and slapping in a bid to remove them.
He also hurled ‘abuses’ at them according to locals.
As the video went viral inviting criticism from Delhi police triggered outrage amidst locals who later staged their protest in Inderlok.
“After the video came to notice, the Police Post in charge who was seen in the video has been suspended with immediate effect. Necessary disciplinary action has also been taken against him,” Deputy Commissioner of Police, North, Manoj Meena said.
Meanwhile, hundreds of Muslims were outraged and protested at Inderlok Metro Station. The local leaders and residents condemned the police action and requested peace and harmony in the area.
