Politics in Delhi simmering with a verbal altercation between the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Centre after Delhi Chief Minister Atishi was evicted from her official residence 6, Flag Staff Road in Civil Lines (the house alloted to Arvind Kejriwal earlier), two days after she moved in. The AAP spokesperson called the fresh gesture as beginning of a new political tug-of-war ahead of the Delhi Assembly polls scheduled early next year. The Delhi Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), claimed Lieutenant Governor Vinai Saxena “forcibly removed” Atishi’s belongings from the official home “at the behest of the BJP”. However, the allegation was dismissed by the sources in Saxena’s office.
Refuting the allegation by AAP and CMO, sources in the Lieutenant Governor’s office made it clear it was Atishi herself who had kept her belongings in that house even before it was allotted to her and then removed them herself”.
According to sources in LG’s office, the Civil Lines house still belongs to Arvind Kejriwal, no matter he has vacated but as per protocol the house needs to be allotted to Chief Minister first. Atishi’s official alloted residence is still 17 AB Mathura Road. How can two houses get allotted?” they claimed. She was alloted the AB-17 residence last year after she was appointed a minister in the Arvind Kejriwal government.
The sources assured the “bungalow will be allotted to the Chief Minister immediately after the PWD prepares the inventory”.
A double lock has been put on the residence, sources said, adding proper paperwork was not submitted to the Public Works Department (PWD) regarding the handover of the keys.
