J&K Terror Attacks: Farooq Abdullah’s remark ‘terrorists shouldn’t be killed…’ sparks anger among Indians

Terrorist attacks are not stopping in Jammu and Kashmir since past two weeks. Just few days after the Ganderbal terror attack, soldiers were targeted in Gulmarg. Before Diwali, it was Aaknoor and on on Friday, gunshots were heard in the Bandipora area. Security forces came into action began a combing operation. On Saturday (today) morning, Indian Army have shot down two Pakistani terrorists in Anantnag district. Many have been asking if insurgency was back in the valley? In such a crucial time National Conference (NC) leader Farooq Abdullah’s remarks have angered India.

On Saturday, former J&K Chief minister and National Conference (NC) leader Farooq Abdullah churned fresh political controversy by raising questions on Indian Army for killing the terrorists. He said that Army should keep them alive as it would be clear who they were in the interrogation. Farooq Abdullah further said further said, “Its important to ascertain if any agencies are working to malign the reputation of Omar Abdullah government.”

“It’s not wise to always blame Pakistan for everything,” added the veteran politician. Nothing the news though, Abdullah has always been in favour of a mutual dialogue between India and Pakistan turning a blind eye to the attitude of Pakistan who inspite of numerous convictions have resorted to terrorism. Our soldiers at the border are killed but Abdullah finds conspiracy in terror attacks to ruin his son’s government. This statement has churned immense controversy both in the political corridors and media. Experts on defence, have condemned Abdullah over his remarks.

“The remarks are sad but I feel Farooq Abdullah has finally understood that there is a hell and heaven difference between facing problems while in the government and making passes from outside. I would expect Abdullah to come to come along with PM Modi who is fighting the terror in the valley,” said Bharatiya Jamata Party (BJP) spokesperson Sudhangshu Trivedi. “If have information about terrorists the share with Centre. Don’t insult the soldiers,” added Trivedi.

Congress spokesperson and media panelist, Vaibhav Shukla said, “Well, Farooq Abdullah’s remarks are his personal. The Congress have nothing to do with these remarks. We don’t endorse this remark as fringe elements in the valley have been a big problem for years. There was a slow down for some time but suddenly we see an increase in the cases. Congress has immense respects for the Indian Army who have been relentlessly fighting terrorism in the valley irrespective of weather constraints. We respect our soldiers.” “We believe that Indian Army is competent enough to take the decision of what should be done to these terrorists,” added Vaibhav Shukla.

“Farooq Abdullah knows that this terrorism is coming from Pakistan. What is there to investigate in this? He knows that the terrorist attacks that are taking place in Jammu and Kashmir, Pakistan and terrorist organizations are involved in this. We all should support our army, police and security forces… We have to fight unitedly against those who are the enemies of humanity,” former J&K minister and state BJP President, Ravinder Raina.

Massive combing operation was taking place across many ares including Bandipora till the time the story was being filed.

However, a statement from Chief Minister Omar Abdullah over Farooq Abdullah’s controversial remarks is awaited.
