LAHORE: Ihsanullah, Pakistan’s fast bowler, has flown to Manchester, United Kingdom to seek further treatment for a prolonged elbow injury. This setback originated during Pakistan’s white-ball series against New Zealand in April 2023, sidelining Ihsanullah from the cricketing arena since then.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) revealed that Ihsanullah will be consulting with an esteemed orthopaedic surgeon, Professor Adam Watts, regarding his elbow injury. Professor Watts specialises in a spectrum of orthopaedic procedures, including hand and wrist surgery, shoulder and elbow treatments, sports injuries, and trauma surgery.
In a collaborative effort between Ihsanullah’s franchise, Multan Sultans, and the PCB, arrangements have been made to facilitate his appointment with Professor Watts. The PCB, serving as Ihsanullah’s parent body, has undertaken the responsibility of covering all expenses related to his treatment and subsequent rehabilitation. The PCB has assured stakeholders that updates regarding Ihsanullah’s condition will be communicated following Professor Watts’ comprehensive assessment and diagnosis.
The unfortunate injury has forced Ihsanullah to miss out on significant cricketing events, including the Asia Cup and the Men’s ODI World Cup in 2023. Initial attempts at treatment did not yield the desired outcome, leading to concerns about the accuracy of the diagnosis. Multan Sultans owner, Ali Tareen, expressed dissatisfaction, suggesting a misdiagnosis by the PCB. However, the PCB’s chief medical officer, Dr. Sohail Saleem, refuted these claims, affirming the organisation’s commitment to providing accurate medical assessments and support to its players.
