Patna: Rashtriya Lok Janshakti Party (RLJP) National president Pasupati Kumar Paras on Monday stirred controversy by claiming that his nephew Chirag Paswan is going to lose the seat of Jamui and hence he is eyeing on Hajipur Lok Sabha constituency, traditionally associated with the Paswan family.
Paras alleged that his nephew, Chirag Paswan, is eyeing the seat from Hajipur due to anticipated defeat in his current Jamui constituency as he knows that people will not vote for him in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
He asserted his right to contest from Hajipur, citing his late brother Ram Vilas Paswan’s endorsement as his political successor, accusing Chirag Paswan of abandoning Jamui, suggesting it as a sign of weakness. The feud within the Paswan family intensifies as both factions vie for control over political legacies and electoral strongholds.
“Why Chirag Paswan is leaving his Jamui sitting parliamentary constituency seat? He is afraid of losing there. Jamui’s seat is the weak point of Chirag Paswan. Ram Vilas Paswan declared me his political successor. He asked me to contest the Hajipur Lok Sabha election in 2019 and ensured my victory. Due to the blessings of PM Narendra Modi, I am a minister in his cabinet. Hajipur Lok Sabha constituency is mine and I will contest the upcoming election from here,” Paras said.
Earlier on many occasions, Lok Janshakti Party Ram Vilash (LJPR) President Chirag Paswan claimed that he would contest from the Hajipur Lok Sabha constituency from where Late Ram Vilas Paswan had contested elections many times and won with record margins in the past.
