“People of Haryana have scripted history,” says PM Modi

The Haryana election results came like a big shock Congress that had made tall claims of sweeping Haryana state in the Assembly polls. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) bagged 48 seats out of 90 seats and secured a historic win for the third term. However, the Congress made a comeback bagging 37 seats. According to the Election Commission website, the BJP was poised to form its government in Haryana with the party crossing the halfway mark and winning 48 out of 90 assembly seats in the election.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed gratitude to the people of Haryana for bringing back the BJP with its biggest mandate ever. PM Modi addressed the party workers at the BJP headquarters in Delhi, “Jaha doodh-dahi ka khana, waisa hai apna Haryana’. The people of Haryana have done wonders. Today is the sixth day of Navratri, the day of Maa Katyayani. Maa Katyayani is sitting on a lion with a lotus in her hand. She is blessing all of us. On such a holy day, lotus has bloomed in Haryana for the third time…” “Lotus has bloomed in Haryana for the third time,” added the Prime Minister.

The counting of votes began as per schedule at eight in the morning and trends were clear little after noon. Celebrations began as soon as the trends poured in and it was clear that the Saffron was winning.
