London: In an effort to combat disruptive classrooms learning session by Phones and enhance student better learning experiences, the United Kingdom government has announced new guidelines and will be prohibited the use of mobile phones in all schools. Prime Minister Rishi Sunak’s administration will provide support to headteachers in enforcing these guidelines, particularly during school sessions and breaks.
The Prime Minister shared a 51-second video on his official social media handle, depicting him being interrupted three times by a ringing mobile phone, which he ultimately discards from his pocket. “See how frustrating that is?” Sunak remarked, highlighting that nearly one third of secondary school pupils reported disruptions in their lessons due to phones. He emphasized that mobile phones are not only a distraction in the classroom but also contribute to bullying in schools.
Acknowledging that many schools have already implemented bans on mobile phones, resulting in safer and more conducive learning environments, Sunak announced the release of new guidelines to support other schools in adopting similar measures. He underscored the government’s commitment to ensuring that children receive the quality education they deserve.
“One of the biggest issues that every students and teachers grapple with every day is the impact of mobile phones. Classroom lessons are most of the time being disrupted by phones. Some schools have already banned phones in school so that the can provide better learning environment to students. Now we are publishing new guidelines so other schools have to support they need to do the same,” the PM said.
The Prime Minister’s video received widespread praise on social media, with many commending his acting performance in addressing the issue. Sunak’s efforts even garnered recognition from billionaire Elon Musk, owner of X, who ‘liked’ the PM’s tweet, acknowledging the importance of the initiative.
