In a rare gesture, the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) has given permission to pilgrims going to Sabarimala temple in Kerala to carry coconuts in their cabin baggage for a limited period.
This was informed by the ministry on Saturday today. This come at a time when the airlines is facing constant bomb hoax for over a week. Last week the airlines players had to cancel or divert over 40 flights after receiving the treats.
Pilgrims going to Sabarimala temple in Kerala would be allowed to carry coconuts in the cabin baggage of flights till January 20, 2025, said Civil Aviation Minister K Rammohan Naidu.
The two-month-long Sabarimala pilgrimage season will start in mid-November.
The pilgrims have welcome the gesture and thanked the minister.
