A large delegation of Sikh community comprising of prominent Sikh achievers and individuals from all walks of life called upon National Commission for Minorities (NCM) Chairman, Shri Iqbal Singh Lalpura at NCM on 9th October, 2024 in the Chairman. Apart from Lalpura, KK Deboo, Vice Chairman, NCM, Dhanyakumar J. Gunde and Rinchen Lhamo were also present in the meeting as NCM members.
The participants shared their views relating to the issues of Sikh community viz. educational and socio-economic upliftment, promotion of Punjabi language (Gurumukhi), tackling of drug menace among Sikh youth, misuse of social media, skill development, opening of industries in Sikh dominated areas, cultural invasion, propagation of good work of the religion at appropriate forum.
After listening to the delegation, Lalpura assured Commission’s support for the development and upliftment of Sikh community by addressing their concerns, fostering unity, and promoting a positive narrative for future generations, Hon’ble Chairman Shri Iqbal Singh Lalpura assured that the Commission would endeavour to take up their issues at appropriate level as and when required.
