Its celebrations for the Congress across Wayanad in the state of Kerala. Temperature soaring high among the Congress workers who had been waiting eagerly to receive their leader party General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra who reached Kerala on Tuesday evening along with her mother and veteran Congress leader Sonia Gandhi. Both mother and daughter landed in Mysore on Tuesday evening, and made their way to Wayanad later in the night. Congress workers gathered to cheer them on both sides of the road.
The picture was same on Wednesday today, when Priyanka Gandhi Vadra filed her nomination for the Wayanad Lok Sabha bypoll. She was accompanied by her mother and veteran Congress leader Sonia Gandhi and brother and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. After filling the nomination paper, the former Congress president said she will emerge as a passionate champion of Wayanad’s needs and a powerful voice in Parliament.
Priyanka will be the third member of her family in Parliament if she wins the Wayanad polls. Her mother Sonia Gandhi is a Rajya Sabha MP from Rajasthan and her brother also the Congress Parliamentary Party chairperson, Rahul Gandhi is a Lok Sabha MP from Rae Bareli.
“Congress and all the workers in the party are extremely happy that a new face will come to Parliament who has always stood with women across the country. She will raise her voice her voice for women, farmers and also become their voice in the Parliament. Honestly, we as Congress workers are extremely excited to see Priyank Ji filling her nomination from Wayanad Lok Sabh constituency,” said Vaibhav Shukla, Congress spokesperson.
“Priayanka Gandhi Ji will win the polls, people in the constituency have been Congress supporters and we are proud to have them with us,” added Shukla.
“The people of Wayanad hold special place in my heart, and I can’t imagine better representative for them than my sister, Priyanka Gandhi. Together, let’s ensure Wayanad continues to be represented with love,” Rahul Gandhi wrote on X.
Priyanka Gandhi on Monday held meeting with Mallikarjun Kharge in Delhi to discuss the poll strategy in Wayanad.
RaGa who also shared the platform with her sister at the road show said, both Rae Bareli and Wayanad would get two MPs and had also expressed confidence in Priyanka Gandhi winning from Wayanad.
The by-poll in the Wayanad is scheduled to be held on November 13. Priyanka Gandhi will contest against Navya Haridas of BJP and Sathyan Mokeri, Left Democratic Front’s (LDF) candidate.
