Death Toll Mounts to 21 In Russian Missile Strike On Odesa

KIEV: Ukraine’s Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko said on Saturday in the Russian double missile attack on the Ukrainian city of Odesa, the death toll rose to 21 and left 73 wounded.

The media report said that among those killed and wounded were emergency medical teams.

In the attack, Odesa’s former Deputy Mayor, Serhii Tetiukhin and Oleksandr Hostishchev, the Commander of the police special forces battalion Tsunami, were among those killed.

Ukrainian officials said the first Russian missile hit homes and civilian infrastructure, and when emergency teams were conducting rescue operations another missile struck the same spot.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky condemned the attack as “vile” and said Russia would “feel our fair response”.

According to the Emergency Services, the majority of those killed were fished out from debris. Rescuers rushed to the spot and started extinguishing the fire. Injured were taken to hospital.

Ukraine’s Southern Defence Forces said Russian Forces had launched Iskander-M ballistic missiles from occupied Crimea.
