Outrage at DPS Dwarka: Parents Allege Harassment Over Fees

Parents Accuse DPS Dwarka of Harassment Over Outstanding Fees.

NEW DELHI: In shocking news reported from the national capital where Parents of at least 20 students at Delhi Public School (DPS) Dwarka have accused the institution of harassment, alleging that their children were barred from entering classrooms and had their names publicly displayed on the school’s official website due to outstanding fee dues.

According to the parents, this action came after they refused to pay a revised fee, which they claim was increased without following Directorate of Education (DoE) norms. They also alleged that the public disclosure of their children’s names violates their right to personal space and privacy.

“The school maligned the reputation of children by labeling them as defaulters, despite parents having paid the full fee in advance,” said one parent.

The parents further accused the school of demanding “unapproved” revised fees and harassing their children. “We have submitted numerous complaints since 2021 but have received no relief,” another parent stated.

In 2022, the school management allegedly hired bouncers to prevent children with outstanding fees from entering the school. “They sent bouncers in school buses to stop children from boarding. Teenage girls felt uncomfortable travelling with bouncers, who posed more of a threat than a safety measure,” a parent alleged.

Despite numerous complaints, parents claim the DoE has failed to take concrete and strict action. “The DoE nominees are not even allowed to enter the school and remain mute spectators,” another parent commented.

Faced with these challenges, some parents have reluctantly accepted the school’s actions due to concerns about their children’s future. “We moved the court against the DoE and the school, and the court ordered that parents pay 50 per cent of the revised fee and that the names struck off the rolls be immediately restored. However, the school has shown no respect for the court order,” one parent said.

“It seems that the Chairman and Vice Chairman of the school are so powerful that even the court or any department cannot touch them,” another parent claimed.
