The waiting is over. Thousands of unemployed youth have been waiting for the moment when they could finally register for Prime Minister Internship Scheme on the official portal –pminternship.mca.gov.in would benefit from the Prime Minister Internship Scheme after which the incumbent would be able to get a job in across 24 sectors including oil, gas & energy, followed by travel & hospitality, automotive, and banking and financial services to name a few.
As per the Scheme, one crore candidates, in the age group of 21-24 years, over a period of 5 years would be eligible for the internship.
The portal has opened for the 1 crore young people at 5 pm. Candidates who meet the eligibility requirements of a company can apply online. The registration process kick started on October 3, 2024 and is witnessing large number of people registering on the website.

How does it work:
The detailed steps are laid down in the website. First create a profile and make sure you provide your registered email/mobile number correctly. You will be informed about you Internship opportunities the registered email/mobile number. However, your option to choose from internship opportunities will follow after this.
Eligibility:
Applicants must have completed their high school education and obtained a certificate from an ITI, a diploma from a Polytechnic Institute, or a degree such as BA, BSc, BCom, BCA, BBA, or BPharma. Candidates should be between 21 and 24 years old at the time of the application deadline.
Those registering on the portal, should be Indian and should not work a full-time job or full-time school. However, those who are presently enrolled in online or distance learning courses can apply.

Benefits:
The incumbent will get a monthly stipend of Rs 5,000 for the entire 12-month internship. This stipend is funded by the company’s CSR, with Rs 500 coming from the company and Rs 4500 from the government.
The interns will also get a one-time financial support of Rs 6,000 to cover any incidental expenses in addition to the monthly stipend.
The interns will be insured under initiatives like PM Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana and PM Suraksha Bima Yojana, with the government covering the insurance premiums.
The Internship Scheme which was first announced by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman during the Union Budget 2024-25 will start on December 02, 2024. An expected 1.25 lakh candidates will be covered under the Scheme in the financial year 2024-25.
