Cyclone Dana: Landfall in Odisha, heavy to heavy rainfall expected from Wednesday from Wednesday

 Kolkata’s Meteorological office informed very heavy rainfall, while Kolkata, Howrah, Hooghly, and Jhargram may see heavy rain between October 23 and 24. Purba Medinipur, Paschim Medinipur, South 24 Parganas and North 24 Parganas in West Bengal are likely to experience.

Very heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected to take place in one or two places over Gangetic West Bengal around October 25, 2024.

Cyclone Dana, a tropical cyclone that will form over the Bay of Bengal, is expected to cause heavy rains in Odisha in the coming days. The cyclone is expected to make landfall on October 24. 

The exact location of the landfall is not known, but two major weather models, IMD-GFS and ECMWF, have indicated that the system may make landfall in Puri.

Cyclone Dana live updates: A yellow alert, forecasting heavy rainfall (7 to 11 cm) & thunderstorm with lightning, was issued for Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khudra, Ganjam and Gajapati districts in Odisha for Thursday, October 24.

The cyclonic storm may intensify into a severe cyclonic storm. The wind speed may reach up to 100-120 kmph,” India Meteorological Department (IMD)’s Bhubaneswar centre, Manorama Mohanty.
