The Bhutia dog has earned a formidable reputation as a guardian of the high-altitude settlements against predators like leopards, making it an indispensable companion for the local communities.

These dogs like the cold environment of Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Jammu and Kashmir, the Gaddi dog has been an indispensable companion to the shepherds and herders of the Himalayan hinterlands for decades.
