President confers Dadasaheb Phalke Award on Mithun Chakraborty at the National Film Awards 2024

Actor Mithun Chakraborty was honored with the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award, the highest award for contributions to cinema, at the National Film Awards 2024 that took place at the Vigyan Bhawan in Delhi a short while ago.

President Droupadi Murmu conferred the award on the actor who has an active political life and is presently a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). This year, Rishab Shetty bagged the Best Actor award, while Nithya Menen and Manasi Parekh won the Best Actress awards.

Music director AR Rahman won his seventh National Film Award for Best Background Score for Ponniyin Selvan.

Choreographer Jani Master was initially set to win Best Choreography for Thiruchitrambalam, but his win was suspended due to an ongoing rape case against him.

This year, the films released in 2022 were honoured at the awards show. The awards show ran a year late due to Covid-19 pandemic.
